A Taste of My Own Medicine: How & Why I Parted With a Favorite Collection
To make a long story short: On Sunday morning I came home from yoga class with a sudden, but strong urge to part with a 6-year old collection of Domino magazines. Aside from my silver Tuareg jewelry from Niger, this was my only collection! Design enthusiasts will understand how hard this was. Domino magazine is out of print and has reached cult status among those of us who shed tears over their last issue. I went with the urge, resisting looking at a single page along the way. Update since this video: they've officially been recycled, and I do feel a touch of remorse. However, the empty space I gained far outweighs the regrets.
7 Day Challenge:
Do you have a collection that you've been holding on to, but haven't truly enjoyed in years? Just because you have collected something, doesn't mean you have to keep it forever. What can you toss or donate this week that you never thought you could? It may feel like ripping the band-aid off, but if something is coming to mind as you read this, do what I did and let it go. If you do, let me know how you talked yourself into it!
