An astute observation (and smack-down) on free stuff
I declutter homes for a living. I hate free stuff. is one of those articles that leaves me screaming inside “I should have written this!” I didn’t though, so am very happy that DC organizer Nicole Anzia did.
She addresses freebies of all shades, though goes deep on the worst culprits that are most guilty of cluttering our clients’ drawers: event t-shirts, water bottles, reusable bags, and corporate swag. (I once filmed a video on just saying “no” to branded promotional items). We both seem to agree that this isn’t just a clutter problem, but a great environmental one too. Donating these items isn’t the answer. Resisting the urge to bring them home is.
