Look at this virtual organizing transformation!
My new client and I were on a roll when Covid-19 closed in and sent us to Zoom to continue our work together. After going through some major life changes, including a downsize and a recent move, she was left with a lot of loose ends. Naturally, paper was the most visible manifestation of years of uncertainty and stress. She was able to make her home quite beautiful on the surface, but the boxes, bags, and piles of paper were getting harder to hide.
You may have watched my video 4 Things I’ve Learned About Organizing While Quarantined. In it I shared a story about a client who ended up placing a much smaller Ikea and Container Store order since, because of order snafus and delays, we had time to cull even more before placing final orders. This bedroom is that story.
Through the minutia of discussing papers one at a time to big picture sketches and planning, we created the results you see here. Each small file box holds a specific category, including:
Financial
Personal projects
Self development
Past professional development
Active projects for the accountant
Various personal interests
This doesn’t even include some of the more stress-inducing categories that are now neatly organized in the closet. Due to space limitations so much has to be visible, so we made sure that the energetic content of these boxes are categories she’s ok with sleeping next to. The smallest and largest boxes pictured hold supplies.
Products pictured that she already had:
Bisley White 5 Drawer Cabinet (I have one of these too and I love it.)
Products pictured that we ordered:
Bigso Stockholm Desktop File in gray and white
Hours went into wading through her notes, printed emails, bills, mail, tear-outs, flyers and more. I’m not going to sell this as a quick fix. She had the patience to do it right though so she doesn't have to do it again! Stuffing it all into pretty boxes would have easy (and she tried that before), but the day came when in order to focus on her future, she had to come to terms with every homeless item and scrap of paper from her past.
This can be done virtually even if we’ve never met in person. Together we can visualize the end result and together we can see it through. I can meet you at any point in the process for a master plan and/or full execution. If you would like to work with me virtually, click here.
In my client’s words:
"I’m thrilled with how you taught me to organize and house my papers — all in a manner that both functions and feels right for the way I work. It’s a relief to know we found a place for everything, even the papers and items that carry more emotional weight. Hiring you is an act of self love and care."
