Organize that money!
When I'm in a client's home organizing their paper, it's common for woes about a disorganized financial life to enter the conversation. I'm always listening out for what tools and resources people I personally know are using. Here are five that my clients and me use and love, from apps to financial organizing pros:
Just this week a client of mine told me about Truebill. It's an app that shows you all of the subscriptions and recurring payments that you have connected to a card or bank account. With so many services these days being on a subscription plan, it's easy to lose track of these regular money leaks.
I don't need Truebill since we track every dollar in my favorite budgeting app, aptly named, Every Dollar.
Another app I keep hearing about is FileThis. FileThis is a document-fetching service that retrieves digital statements and more, collecting them into your favorite platform (Evernote, Google Drive, and much more.) No more manual downloading or saving from ALL of your accounts.
Need more than an app to wrangle your finances? Did you know that there's an American Association of Daily Money Managers? That was news to me! Over the years I've had a number of clients who were also working with someone to help organize finances, taxes, medical billing, and more. Visit aadmm.com to locate a money manager who works in your area or virtually.
I also learned about the Alliance of Claims Assistance Professionals through a client. Through the ACAP he found a pro who was a godsend when dealing with the tangle of medical bills following his wife's passing. Here is a very old, but still relevant article on them in the Wall Street Journal.
Do you have experience with any professionals in either of the associations mentioned here? Do you have a favorite money app or budgeting software? Please share in the comments!
