Please recycle old LED Christmas lights. Here’s how.

Last week my mom asked me to recycle her old Christmas light strings while I was running errands at Lowe’s. I had never heard of this! I knew that Best Buy takes most electronics, but apparently Lowe’s specifically takes Christmas lights. I just dropped them off at customer service. We need to recycle these for the same reasons we recycle any LED lightbulb. They contain mercury, and light cords may even contain small traces of lead.

If you don’t live near a Lowe’s you can mail in your old lights to holidayleds.com. You’ll pay for shipping, but it’s the responsible thing to do. Living in such a disposable culture, we need to help balance that by sometimes making a small sacrifice at the end of the item’s lifecycle.
