[Video] Organize Paper Fast With These Simple Categories
One photo stands out as the one I've shared most with my clients who need to process mass loads of paper fast. I've finally made a video about it, including two additional client stories. These three examples illustrate how simple sorting paper can be, especially in the early stages.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed when staring at surfaces, or even rooms, full of paper. You probably know that if you keep hundreds or thousands of papers, they should end up in dozens of categories, files, and containers. That's exhausting to juggle in your head, especially when facing the task of culling them as you work. This fuzzy vision for your filing future keeps you from acting at all. The result: a grueling process at best, inertia at worst.
Having sat with countless new clients who feel defeated on day one, I've time-tested 2-3 simple categories that help us sort at lightning speed. With these, we don't get caught up in what the final system will look like. We keep it moving. Anyone can do this and I encourage you to do it before buying any organizing supplies. It's not always the final sort, but rather, the pivotal one that breaks inertia.
