Prepping (and organizing) for survival: A client story
I have a client in Houston, Texas who I see at least 2x/year. Yes, I fly there! (Obviously that didn't happen in 2020.) One of the many things she needed help with was her supply room for all things outdoors and survival. She's a self-described "prepper." We keep in good touch and she said this a few days ago:
"Nothing that I got rid of when we worked together was missed during the pandemic or winter storm. I continue to hear your words as I continue to declutter, 'Keep a REASONABLE amount.' That helps me to replay that in my head. When it comes to prepper stuff, I keep what is reasonable for those scenarios. You’re a great influence on me."
The pandemic and winter storms have tested her skills and supplies and she came out on top! She also said her husband has a new appreciation for her prepping. I'm not happy for their struggles of 2020 and 2021, but I am happy that she could USE what she loves to collect! And now she can FIND it! MAN do I wish I had a before shot. 20 years in, I still neglect to take those sometimes. 😩
It's not up to us to say wether or not she's an over-prepped prepper. We all have different definitions of "enough" or "reasonable" and it's my job to help people define and realize that for themselves. (I'll never have enough jeans or shoes BTW.) After some major purges, she's now an organized prepper.
