My top 10 organizing videos

It's hard to believe that I've been posting organizing videos since 2012! I recently passed the 8000 subscribers mark on my YouTube channel! In celebration, I gathered my 10 most popular YouTube videos. These aren't necessarily my personal favorites and naturally, the oldest ones have the most views.  It's a trip down memory lane! In hindsight, each of these lessons have stood the test of time. I still am sharing each of these practices with clients.

These videos have had a life of their own and it's a joy to know they have helped thousands of people. More than a few times a new client has mentioned a favorite video (I have over 100 on the channel), and I barely recall having made it!

If I knew what was good for me I would post at least weekly. Maybe in 2021 I will...

Do you have a suggestion for a home or office organizing video? If so, please post suggestions in the comments.

1. How to use plastic file tabs when organizing paper, 2012

This one tops the charts at 48,813 views!

2. I don't carry a purse but..., 2014

This was definitely my most controversial video! I still stand by the fact that I don't carry a purse. It's a work bag that I only carry to clients' homes and offices. A new client who agreed said "Of course it's not a purse; it's a briefcase. Why can't people wrap their heads around a woman carrying a briefcase?" If ONLY I had thought of the word (and concept) "briefcase" when making the video! The haters came out in the comments!

3. Organizing your office with Container Store file boxes, 2012

Yup, I still love and use these with reckless abandon. I keep the cheaper plastic ones in my trunk to hand out to clients. Most of them need them and learn to love them.

4. 5 ways to organize your office in the New Year, 2012

Though the new year fireside chat was 8 years ago, the top 5 still stands.

5. My favorite office organizing product, 2012

It still is a favorite. Maybe file boxes have eclipsed this. They're at least tied. I have one and a new client just bought one today! The file cart love is going strong.

6. A clever little product to organize your to-dos,  2014

These pocket folders are another favorite that I stock in my trunk. They don't work for everyone, but they work for most and when they work, they WORK. I filmed this at a client's house in Alabama. It was our last day and I was coming down with a terrible cold and was dreading flying home that evening. I powered through this one in the name of organizing.

7. How to organize your wallet and receipts, 2014

This was three wallets ago and I still have it! I can't bring myself to part with it. My new one (sorry, no link) was handmade in Oregon and has nearly identical pockets and compartments, though I rarely carry it. Instead, I put essentials in my iPhone case (similar to this one).

8. Where to start when organizing LOTS of paper, 2014

This is one of my personal favorites because it is so typical of what I do all day long. This is one of the best video representations of spaces I work in before we turn the corner. It teaches that organizing is a process, not a leap from "before" to "after." I wish I had more videos like this but understandably, not everyone is 100% ok with me filming a space that they won't even show to friends!

9. Tackle to-dos with a project Post-it wall, 2014

As I'm typing this, I'm sitting next to a Post-it wall, and I walked a client through one just last week. Post-it planning walls are as strong as ever!

10. Organize your desktop with in/out boxes, 2012

I haven't prescribed a lot of these in/out boxes since filming this video, but if a lot of your paper clutter is from or for a spouse or business partner, then this one's for you.
