Define (and find) work-life balance
This week I gave a talk on work-life balance to a team in Afghanistan - virtually of course! This was a new speaking topic for me. Corralling the lessons into a presentation made me realize how much this topic is woven into my day-to-day work with clients.

Book lovers beware - here are five organizing books you might be tempted to buy! I did hesitate to pull this together for that very reason, but great minds applying themselves to the problem of clutter and distractions need to be praised and shared. I actually haven't read any of these, but in many cases have heard fabulous things about the books or heard interviews with the authors.

5 Moving Stories About Moving
We've all heard people say "Just act like you're moving" in order to inspire a more ruthless decluttering episode. Though I like that frame of mind, it's hard to fake unless you have a real move date on the calendar. I've seen people unleash Herculean strength when faced with a move, letting go of unthinkable items with unthinkable speed. All have survived and all have been better for it!

One could argue that January is the best time of the year to purge because “out with the old, in with the new.” Or, maybe Spring cleaning gets you going.

I love philosopher Alain de Botton so much that we quoted him more than once in our wedding vows. Nearly everything out of his mouth and pen is original and through-provoking. His book The Architecture of Happiness is one of the few books I own.
